Esbelt Waist Cincher ES404 - The Maximum Control Slimming Corset - My Review

WOW! Now, my waist has always been half-hearted at the best of times, blending in with the rest of my body like a gentle undulation. Stick an Esbelt Waist Cincher on me and SHAZAM, I have a proper in and out waist! Not only that but it made me sit and stand up straight. Okay it is a bit like wearing a straight jacket but if you can put up with the trussed up feeling the resulting figure is worth it.

The Esbelt Waist Cincher arrived in a long thin plastic see-through packet with 2 cardboard inserts. It isn’t the most stylish of branding, just to warn you if you are used to the sleekness of other shapewear brands like Spanx!

Esbelt Waist Cincher ES404 - The Maximum Control Slimming Corset - Shapewear Review - Packaging

The waist cincher is a VERY robust garment. It is made from rubber and so when you take it out of the packet it does smell of rubber quite a bit. This does disappear after having it in the open air for an hour or so but you may want to wash it before you wear it. The top of the waist cincher is fairly flat whilst the bottom is curved (lots of people do ask which is the top and which is the bottom!).

The fastenings usually go down the front of the waist cincher. However, if you can get help doing it up, there is no reason why you can’t wear these at the back (an idea if the front of your top is quite tight or sheer). There are 2 “sets” of hooks and eyes, so you can wear the waist cincher tight or REALLY TIGHT!

Once done up, the overlay over the hooks and eyes is fairly prominent. It should lay flat and hidden under most clothing but it will show through anything too sheer or flimsy.

The waist cincher is basically one piece of fabric that you stretch around your middle. The inside is lined with brushed cotton, so you can wear it directly on your skin. It has 4 flexible bones which are sewn into the lining.

From the outside the boning pockets can be seen, along with 5 flat sewn seams. The outer layer is made from rubber (silicone) so PLEASE don’t wear this item if you have any rubber/silicone/latex allergies.

The back of the waist cincher is similar to the front but without the fastenings. There is a middle seam and 2 bones, all of which are flat sewn and should remain flat and invisible under most outfits.

Pros: What I Like About The Esbelt Waist Cincher

  • It is a no nonsense, heavy duty bit of shapewear made to really really (REALLY!) hold you in.
  • The combined effect of the rubber and boning make it extremely strong.
  • It pulls you in tightly at the waist and flattens your belly.
  • It makes you stand up much straighter and really improves your posture (this always makes you look thinner).
  • It pulls your back straight and your shoulders back which makes your bust look much more impressive!!
  • It gives you loads of lower back support – brilliant for my back.
  • It is lined with cotton so you don’t have to wear anything underneath it.
  • It has two hook and eye settings so you can wear it tight or even tighter!
  • You don’t need to do anything to it to use the loo.

Cons: What I Don’t Like About The Esbelt Waist Cincher

  • It smells of rubber which is initially off putting. However, this goes once you have aired or washed it.
  • It makes you feel really trussed up & you certainly couldn’t eat a massive dinner whilst wearing it.
  • The bones can dig in a bit if they end up in the wrong place.
  • Only a minor gripe, but they could have made the packaging look a bit more appealing.
  • The natural/nude colour is a pinky beige – again only a minor gripe.
  • The waist cincher could show through very tight or light clothing as it is quite bulky with seams.

How To Put The Esbelt Waist Cincher On

Undo all the hooks and eyes. The flat edge goes at the top, on your ribcage, and the curved edge sits around your hips. The hooks and eyes go down your front. Wrap the waist cincher around your waist, making sure that it doesn’t sit too high (or too low). The side boning should run down your sides and it naturally curves in where your waist is. If you want to wear it really tight you might need to lie down on a bed to get the hooks and eyes done up. You really need to hoik them into place – this waist cincher isn’t for the faint hearted so give it a really good tug!

Once you have got it on, as always do a wiggle and a jiggle. Work your arms to help the waist cincher sit properly. Have a breather, a glass of water, or maybe a glass of wine. Now get dressed.
